new year’s manifesto, resolutions for the year 2009

los angeles

new year’s resolution #1: less crap, more quality. in every respect. every respect includes relationships, experiences, memories, products, living spaces, the “body.”

new year’s resolution #2: create one very good product. the word “product” is open to interpretation but the words “very good” are not. in the act of creating a new product, one must ask “does this product add to the world’s assets or does it only add more clutter?” furthermore, in the act of creating a new product, the ego must step aside for the sake of the product, the work. the creative mind must submit itself to the service of the product or the work.

new year’s resolution #3: start each working day with an act of creation as opposed to an act of consumption (reading emails, the news).

new year’s resolution #4: there will be more meditation.

new year’s resolution #5: consume less, enjoy more.

new year’s resolution #6: when traveling, buy local, pay with cash.

new year’s resolution #7: if one feels like a fish out of water, develop lungs & grow legs (evolution through the act of disarming).

new year’s resolution #8: remove your ego before opening your mouth to speak. ask yourself, to what purpose do these words serve?

new year’s resolution #9: to have the final word means little if one has nothing to say, don’t waste this precious moment. be conscious.

new year’s resolution #10: accept that you can’t be everywhere at once. choose carefully but realise that some things will be missed.
